Baking Powder

I have always been confused about the difference between baking soda and baking powder.  I have googled it and read all the explanations and still just trust the recipe and put what it calls for.

Recently, I was making a cake and realized that I didn’t have any baking powder.  I didn’t have time to run to the store, so I decided to try making my own. (I posted about lots of other emergency recipe substitutions here.) It only calls for three ingredients:

2 Tablespoons Baking Soda

2 Tablespoons Corn Starch

4 Tablespoons Cream of Tartar

Mix together and store in an airtight container.
